Recently, he choreographed two new productions that are being performed simultaneously. They showcase the lives of two historical figures through dance interpretation – President Abraham Lincoln and Nigerian Afrobeat hero Fela Anikulapo Kuti. While the subjects are from different time periods, races and continents, Jones saw something about both figures who left behind legacies that inform society today.

Jones is a truth-seeker through motion, and he will inspire future generations to see the revolution through his steps.

Martha Coakley only has herself to blame

How is it possible for a Democratic candidate running to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy in the most liberal state in the nation lose to a Republican? When complacency and arrogance are mixed together, you end up with Martha Coakley’s train wreck of a campaign. When the Massachusetts attorney general entered the race months ago, it was believed that she would easily win.

Black women need a voice in health care’s abortion debate

Health care reform has been a hot topic for months, but abortion rights might now actually be the deal breaker in whether or not health care legislation passes. This fight comes to a head this week on Capitol Hill, with Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson introducing a proposal that would tighten restrictions on coverage for abortions, including a ban on coverage for any health plan using federal funds.
