What’s Cooking: Homemade Ice Cream
It’s hot, and I tried making my own ice cream.

Another Jazz Fest for the history books!
I only went to the Sunday program this year, and it was still an amazing experience, although I really hated that I missed Big Freedia on Friday. I jammed out to Cimafunk, an Afro-Cuban jazz funk band. It was also great to see hip-hop legends Rakim, Talib Kweli, and, of course, Herbie Hancock. However, Samara Joy was the biggest highlight for me. She is a rising star in the music world, and I anticipate great things for her in the future!
If you missed Jazz this year, check out all the artists here:
My bookstore had its first happy hour a couple of weeks ago with author Magogodi oaMphela Makhene, along with discounted books and drinks. I updated our upbeat playlist on Spotify, which we only play for these types of occassions. A little dance party took place.
I hope you like the tunes!
I had originally intended to see one movie this weekend, but ended up watching both!
I saw Barbie on Saturday. It was such a fun movie for kids and kids at heart, like myself, who remember playing with Barbie dolls as a child. Then on Sunday, my friend Brad asked me to go see Oppenheimer, as he had an extra ticket to see it on IMAX. Oppenheimer is a very intense but fascinating film.
Not only was this a historic film weekend, but this was also the first time I went to a movie theater since before the pandemic.
If Barbenheimer were really a thing, it would have been the greatest movie ever made!
