‘Rare Bird of Fashion,’ Iris Apfel makes waves at PEM

Any woman who has ever worn a pair of jeans has Iris Apfel to thank. Her career as a fashion icon began when as a young girl growing up in the 1940s she ordered a pair of boy-sized denims from a Wisconsin Army & Navy store. Her intent was to wear them with a turban and large hoop earrings.
